A hospital in San Francisco, California is looking for physician assistants to provide additional coverage for increased patient load. Providers can expect management of chronic stable medical conditions, specialty protocols (e.g. chemotherapy), routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures. Mostly outpatient but could potentially assist in the OR when needed if RNFA - not required.

Qualifications of Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant (PA):

  • Active CA Physician Assistant License

  • Board Certification

  • BLS Certification

  • DEA

  • EPIC experience

  • 1+ years PA experience in an outpatient surgical oncology practice

  • Thoracic specific experience strongly preferred

Duties/Responsibilities of Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant (PA):

  • Provide care for adult oncology patients, primarily in an outpatient setting

  • Manage a daily caseload of 10-12 patients, focusing on lung and esophageal cancer treatments

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including 5 surgeons, 2 RNs, and medical assistants/patient care staff

  • Perform routine care, manage chronic stable medical conditions, and follow specialty protocols such as chemotherapy

  • Assist with acute or critical care management and perform medical and surgical procedures as needed (e.g., thoracentesis, chest tube removal)

  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for thoracic surgery patients

  • Potentially assist in the operating room if RNFA certified (not required)

  • Utilize knowledge of surgical oncology, particularly in lung and esophageal cancers
